My love for nature and wildlife began in childhood, when my father took me on countless outdoor adventures—fishing, beach trips, family vacations in Canada, and later, bird hunting. He affectionately called me "Johnny," and through those experiences, he passed on a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.
That passion naturally led me to creating art: oil paintings, pen-and-ink drawings, and pastel art of landscapes and wildlife. Photography became the perfect way to capture the places I explored. Moving to Alaska in 1980 amplified everything—I fell even more in love with the wilderness and the drive to experience and capture it. It's also where my wife Cindy and I met, married, and raised our three children.
Later, while living in Arizona, I turned professional, photographing landscapes and wildlife across North America, including many trips to Mexico. I've returned to Alaska to photograph with a lifelong friend, but my focus is now in Arizona, as you will see in many of my images.
Today, my goal is to share the wonder of God's creation through photography, through traditional art, and by exploring the amazing new field of generative art. It brings me joy to share such wonders with you.
